Types of Storms – Evil Storms
We read in Ecclesiastes 8:6 that there is a proper procedure for every matter. In the same way, understanding the type of storm you are dealing with is key to knowing the proper biblical way to handle and overcome it. For the next couple of weeks, we shall look at four different types of storms and how to deal with them.
The first is evil or demonic storms. The source of this type of storm is the devil. These evil storms are disruptions in our lives with only three purposes: steal, kill, and destroy (cf. John 10:10). Typical examples of these storms include sicknesses and poverty. Evil storms also come to challenge the word or promises of God in our lives, stop the manifestation of God’s will in our lives, and keep us from fulfilling our purposes.
In Luke 8:22-39, which can also be found in Mark 4:35-5:20, Jesus told His disciples that they should cross over to the other side. But a storm came threatening them such that they began to be in danger at sea. So, although Jesus had given a clear word to go to the other side, a storm came which challenged and attempted to nullify the very words of Jesus. When they finally got to the other side, Jesus encountered a certain man who had a legion (3000-6000) of demons inhabiting him and who no one could control. Jesus delivered him and he became a great witness of Jesus in the Decapolis, a group of ten cities. Could it be that the storm Jesus and His disciples faced was not just to challenge the words of Jesus but also prevent the demon possessed man from being delivered and consequently hinder the spread of the gospel through him in the Decapolis?
In the same way, when we face oppositions challenging God’s promises in our lives, keeping us from fulfilling our purposes, and intending to steal, kill and/destroy us, let us recognize the source of the opposition as the devil and take our stand against it. We shall look at how to do this as we go on with this study.

A Very Important Message
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life (John 3:16). For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23). Therefore, If you do not know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, I invite you to put your faith in Him. Pray the prayer below to accept Jesus Christ as your Saviour: “I come to you God in Jesus’ name and surrender my life unto you. I repent of my sins and I ask You to forgive me all my sins. I confess with my mouth that Jesus is Lord, and I believe with my heart that God has raised Jesus from the dead. I thank you God for saving me, in Jesus name, Amen”. If you sincerely prayed this prayer, believe and be assured that you are saved, for the Bible says that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:13, Romans 10:9-10, Acts 16:31).
