Dealing with the Storms of Life – Part 3

Godly Storms

The Second type of storm we will look at are godly storms. These are disruptions to our usual routines that are orchestrated by God Himself for His own purpose. Godly storms can bring us into the center of His will, e.g., when we veer off, bring correction to us, and also test our faith for promotion. In Psalm 148:7-8, the Bible says “Praise the Lord from the earth, you great sea creatures and all ocean depths, lightning and hail, snow and clouds, stormy winds that do his bidding” (NIV). This text affirms the truth that God uses storms and the elements of storms to do His bidding and accomplish His purpose.

Unlike evil storms, godly storms are not destructive in nature but redemptive. They also help to build our faith to attain to the great things God has in store for us. However, they do not necessarily feel pleasant when you are going through them but at the end they produce a great harvest: “No discipline seems enjoyable at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it yields a harvest of righteousness and peace to those who have been trained by it” (Hebrews 12:11 BSB).

When we signed up to follow Jesus, we signed up for these storms as well. Therefore, “do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you” (1 Peter 4:12). Rather, we are to recognize that whenever the need arises, we will face these trials (cf. 1 Peter 1:6). So, “consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing” (James 1:2-4).

A Very Important Message
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life (John 3:16). For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23). Therefore, If you do not know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, I invite you to put your faith in Him. Pray the prayer below to accept Jesus Christ as your Saviour: “I come to you God in Jesus’ name and surrender my life unto you. I repent of my sins and I ask You to forgive me all my sins. I confess with my mouth that Jesus is Lord, and I believe with my heart that God has raised Jesus from the dead. I thank you God for saving me, in Jesus name, Amen”. If you sincerely prayed this prayer, believe and be assured that you are saved, for the Bible says that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:13, Romans 10:9-10, Acts 16:31).
