Walking in the will of God

The Scriptures testify of God that “His ways are past finding out” (Romans 11:33), but to the blameless we read that God sets them in His way (See 2 Samuel 33:22). Herein lies a key to walking the ways or will of God: Be blameless. But how do we become blameless? The Bible teaches us how: “And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ (Philippians 1:9-10)”.

The first step to being blameless is to let your love abound in real knowledge and all discernment. To abound in something is to be well supplied with it. Even so, the love of God was shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost when we received Jesus (Romans 5:5), and we are hereby commanded to supply our love with real knowledge and all discernment. Real knowledge is that which is absolutely true, and Jesus Christ – the word of God – is the Truth (John 14:6). When we are filled with the real knowledge from God’s Word, we will receive grace to walk in discernment, distinguishing that which is holy from the profane.

For our love to abound in real knowledge is also a call for us to grow and walk in love, and also for us to have abundant love for the Truth. Therefore, we are instructed to study to show ourselves approved unto God as workmen that need not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15). It is when we are able to rightly divide the Word of truth that we are able to approve the things that are excellent as we ought. In this way God counts us sincere and blameless before Him.

Once God considers our walk with Him blameless, He promises to set us in His way. His way is a way of peace and a place where our every provision is met. His way is His will, and to be set in His way is to walk in the exact plan God has laid down for you to fulfill your specific purpose in His kingdom. You can never go wrong walking in God’s will. But you have a decision to make to walk blamelessly before Him.
