“Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus…” (Philemon 1).
As believers in Jesus Christ, we are called to be prisoners of our Lord Jesus Christ (Philemon 1, Romans 6:15-18). This is one of our privileged identities in Christ. Prisoners don’t have a will of their own but serve their master’s. Neither do they do what they choose but what they are told. They don’t live on their own but under supervision and don’t live wherever they may choose but where they are confined. This is what our lives in Christ must be “For He (Christ) died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again (2 Corinthians 5:15).
To be prisoners of Christ is to seek first His kingdom and His righteousness; this is how we get all things added to us (Matthew 6:33). This also means that we wake up each morning not seeking what we want to do but what He wants accomplished. We don’t choose where to live based on the economy or personal preference but His geographic will for us, neither do we decide on the job to do based on money or pride but what He wants us engaged in. To be prisoners of Christ is to trust our lives totally to Him and for His purposes in such a way that “if we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord” (Romans 14:8).
The truth is that “…a man’s way is not in himself, nor is it in a man who walks to direct his steps (Jeremiah 10:23)”. Therefore, we are utterly deceived to think that we can make it on our own without subjecting ourselves totally to the one who holds the key to life. Only God can bring us safely to the end of our journeys. Everything else will bring us into utter bondage but being a prisoner of Christ is our key to experience true freedom (Galatians 5:1) – freedom from sin, sickness, death, hell, and all evil.

A Very Important Message
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life (John 3:16). For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23). Therefore, If you do not know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, I invite you to put your faith in Him. Pray the prayer below to accept Jesus Christ as your Saviour:
“I come to you God in Jesus’ name and surrender my life unto you. I repent of my sins and I ask You to forgive me all my sins. I confess with my mouth that Jesus is Lord, and I believe with my heart that God has raised Jesus from the dead. I thank you God for saving me, in Jesus name, Amen.
If you sincerely prayed this prayer, believe and be assured that you are saved, for the Bible says that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:13, Romans 10:10, Acts 16:31).
