Hindrances to Faith
Putting in all the effort to fill a bucket with water will amount to nothing if the bucket has holes underneath. In the same way, availing yourself to hear the word of God to receive faith and rightly releasing your faith will hardly yield any result if there are blockades or hindrances that prevent your faith from working.
A major hindrance to our faith is a lack of knowledge of God’s word. The Bible teaches that faith comes by hearing the word of God (Romans 10:17). Thus, if we lack knowledge of God’s word concerning any situation we are faced with, we will struggle to have faith in that area and our faith can be challenged and easily defeated. You cannot have faith beyond your knowledge of God’s word (Kenneth Hagin). When Jesus, who was the Word, was tempted by the devil, He used the Word to defeat the attacks of the devil. In the same way, if our faith is going to succeed, we must devote ourselves to feeding on the Word of God. This is how to build capacity for faith.
A vital aspect of feeding on the Word of God is meditating on the Word. This helps us to understand what the Bible is saying just as we read “Think (reflect, consider) about what I [the Word] am saying and the Lord will give you understanding…” (2 Timothy 2:7). When anyone hears the word and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart (Matthew 13:19). In this way, the Word does not profit and our faith struggles. But with the proper understanding of God’s word, as we meditate on it, we shall be grounded in our faith and our faith will not fail.
Another hindrance to our faith is the failure to walk in love. Galatians 5:6 teaches that faith works by love. If faith is a flame of fire, love is the fuel that keeps it burning. Even so where love is absent, faith is futile. The Bible teaches that love is kind, seeks the good of others, and pays no attention to a suffered wrong (1 Corinthians 13:4-8). Therefore, as long as we remain unkind, cold-hearted, walk in offense, and harbour ill-feeling and animosity towards others our faith will be fruitless. If we are going to be people of faith then we must be people of love. We must first love the Lord our God with our all and love our neighbors as ourselves (Mark 10:29-31) because faith works by love (Galatians 5:6).

A Very Important Message
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life (John 3:16). For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23). Therefore, If you do not know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, I invite you to put your faith in Him. Pray the prayer below to accept Jesus Christ as your Saviour: “I come to you God in Jesus’ name and surrender my life unto you. I repent of my sins and I ask You to forgive me all my sins. I confess with my mouth that Jesus is Lord, and I believe with my heart that God has raised Jesus from the dead. I thank you God for saving me, in Jesus name, Amen”. If you sincerely prayed this prayer, believe and be assured that you are saved, for the Bible says that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:13, Romans 10:9-10, Acts 16:31).
