In 1 Samuel 18:14, we are told that David had great success because the LORD was with him. David also became greater and greater because the LORD God of hosts was with him (2 Samuel 5:10). It is said of Hezekiah that He prospered wherever He went because the LORD was with Him (2 Kings 18:7). Jesus was also anointed with the Holy Spirit and power, and went about doing good because God was with Him.
From these Scriptures, we are shown that the key to achieving great success in all we do is to have the presence of God with us. The presence of God is also key to receiving God’s anointing and doing the works Jesus did. When we give ourselves to prayer, meditating on God’s word, and praising God, we surround ourselves with God’s presence. Additionally, the Scriptures give us a practical way to abide in God’s presence daily in the book of Hebrews. Hebrews 13:5 reads, “Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5). Just as God tells us to be holy by reason of the fact that He is Holy, so are we told to be content by reason of the fact that He has said He will always be with us. In other words, God’s abiding presence with us demands that we walk in contentment. This is how we are able to benefit from His presence. Our life of contentment becomes our proof and appropriate response, which testifies that we have agreed for God’s presence to abide with us continually.
When we live in contentment, we host God’s presence because we do the very thing His presence demands. And when we host His presence, we become like David, Hezekiah and Jesus. We prosper in all our ways and achieve great success, and are anointed to do the works that Jesus did because God is with us. The opposite is also true. When we choose to be discontent, we fail to acknowledge and receive His presence, and the benefits thereof.
To be content as the Scriptures teach is not to live in mediocrity. Rather, it is put to death envy, jealousy, greed and the inordinate desires that want what others have at all cost. It is to acknowledge and dwell in the presence of God, knowing that His presence with us is our provision for our every need. It’s to live a life of confidence and joy, whether you abound or are abased because you know God’s got your back. And it is our practical evidence and testimony that we have agreed to walk, and are abiding in the presence of God.

A Very Important Message
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life (John 3:16). For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23). Therefore, If you do not know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, I invite you to put your faith in Him. Pray the prayer below to accept Jesus Christ as your Saviour: “I come to you God in Jesus’ name and surrender my life unto you. I repent of my sins and I ask You to forgive me all my sins. I confess with my mouth that Jesus is Lord, and I believe with my heart that God has raised Jesus from the dead. I thank you God for saving me, in Jesus name, Amen”. If you sincerely prayed this prayer, believe and be assured that you are saved, for the Bible says that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:13, Romans 10:9-10, Acts 16:31). Find a Bible believing church to attend so that you can be taught and trained to grow in the ways of God. You can also email me ([email protected]) and I will be happy to grow together with you in Christ. God bless you.
