The Power of Vision – Part 6

How to Fulfill the Vision God Has for You Cont’d

So far in this series, we have looked at the power of vision, why you need God’s vision for your, how to know God’s vision for your life, as well as the first practical step towards fulfilling your vision, i.e. writing down the vision (e.g. Habakkuk 2:2-3). In today’s blog, we will continue with how to fulfill the vision God has for you.

The next practical step to fulfilling your vision is to have a plan. Jesus provided the following wisdom about planning: “For which one of you, when he wants to build a tower, does not first sit down and calculate the cost, to see if he has enough to complete it? Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who are watching it will begin to ridicule him, saying, ‘This person began to build, and was not able to finish!’” (Luke 14:28-30). Simply put, if you fail to plan, you plan to fail. The text also teaches that a basic element of planning is to ensure that you have all the resources you need not just to start but to successfully finish. Otherwise, you may end up in mockery, disgrace, and/or destruction. The planning process should therefore reveal what you lack so that you can develop a strategy to obtain what is lacking to accomplish the vision God has given you.

A unique advantage of planning is that it gives you the specific steps you need to take each day to ensure that you are sowing the right kind of seeds needed to reap the specific harvest you are aiming for. Thus, when you have a plan, your efforts and resources are not wasted. They become actual building blocks that are constantly being used to build for your God-given vision. Additionally, planning is how you exercise practical wisdom to redeem the time; using the time for what it is meant for. Consequently, having a plan moves you from living randomly or haphazardly to living with intentionality and purpose. In this way you don’t leave your destiny to chance but you take charge of it and fulfill it in accordance with God’s will.

The best plans are those that are in line with the ways and will of God. Therefore, pray and ask God for the plan to accomplish the vision He has for you – for He has promised that “and all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive” (Matthew 21:22). Romans 15:4 also says, “whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning”. Therefore, always look to God’s Word, and it will provide you with the foundation for pleasing God as well as instructions to have good success (Joshua 1:8). Also look at the lives of those in Scripture who were successful in fulling the assignment God gave them and follow their example—for we are to be imitators of those who through faith and patience inherited the promise (Hebrews 6:12). Similarly, look at the lives of those around, far or near, who have accomplished what you are pursuing. And may their godly lives and examples be a plan for you to achieve what God has for you.

It is important to always remember that even the best plans only have usefulness when they are followed. That is why an integral part of any plan you develop must be the resolve to be disciplined and consistent in following the plan. The degree to which you follow your plan determines the level of success you will have. The choice is yours.

A Very Important Message
The Bible says in John 3:16 that “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life”. Romans 6:23 also says that “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord”. Therefore, If you do not know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, I invite you to put your faith in Him. You can sincerely pray this prayer to accept Jesus Christ as your Saviour. Let us pray: “I come to you God in Jesus’ name and surrender my life unto you. I repent of my sins and I ask You to forgive me all my sins. I confess with my mouth that Jesus is Lord, and I believe with my heart that God has raised Jesus from the dead. I thank you God for saving me, in Jesus name, Amen”. If you sincerely prayed this prayer, believe and be assured that you are saved, for the Bible says that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Find a Bible believing church to attend so that you can be trained to grow in the ways of God. God bless you.
