We can be sincere and noble in our intentions but still end up being wrong and even misleading or mischaracterizing others. One such example in our culture today is the characterization of God’s love as reckless, which contradicts the very testimony God gives about Himself and His love in Scripture. The Scriptures teach that God is love (1 John 4:8; 1 John 4:16). Even so, to sincerely characterize God’s love as reckless is to sincerely characterize God as reckless. This is an error, and being sincere about it does not make it right. The following truths from Scripture show how God dissociates His love from recklessness:
Jesus Himself showed that if there were any other way by which men could be saved in place of going to the cross, He would have opted for that and not given in to the gruesome death on the cross (see Matthew 26:39 & 42, Mark 14:36). He also knew that by going to the cross many will be saved; God, who knows the end from the beginning, had already planned this out (see Genesis 3:15, John 12:32, Revelation 13:8). This is evidence of one who had fully thought about and considered the action He was about to take on the cross as a result of His selfless love, not out of thoughtlessness. The truth is that Jesus did not die on the cross out of senseless passion or exuberance but because there was no other way by which men could be saved except through His death and resurrection. This is not recklessness but selflessness.
Recklessness is never applauded or exalted in Scripture. Jesus applied it to the riotous living of the prodigal son, whose “salvation” came when he came to His senses after being ruined by recklessness (see Luke 15:11-24). Just as it is impossible for God, who is Truth, to lie (John 14:6, Hebrews 6:18) so is it impossible for God who is All Wise to be reckless (Jude 1:24, 1 Corinthians 1:30). Wisdom and folly are mutually exclusive.

A Very Important Message
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life (John 3:16). For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23). Therefore, If you do not know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, I invite you to put your faith in Him. Pray the prayer below to accept Jesus Christ as your Saviour: “I come to you God in Jesus’ name and surrender my life unto you. I repent of my sins and I ask You to forgive me all my sins. I confess with my mouth that Jesus is Lord, and I believe with my heart that God has raised Jesus from the dead. I thank you God for saving me, in Jesus name, Amen”. If you sincerely prayed this prayer, believe and be assured that you are saved, for the Bible says that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:13, Romans 10:9-10, Acts 16:31).
